Dear Menands School Families:


The PTA needs your help! The PTA can only exist with the help of our members and volunteers that keep our programs going. We are looking for volunteers willing to serve as President, Vice President, or Secretary of the PTA board for a 2-year term starting July 1st, 2021.

The Nominating Committee is looking for nominees to be elected at our next PTA General Membership meeting on Tuesday, April 27th at 6:30 pm. If you would like to be considered for a position, please fill out the included form. A member of the nominating committee will contact you to discuss your interest and speak to you about what the position entails. If you have any questions you can ask them at that time. Anything you discuss with the committee is confidential.


Please use the enclosed recommendation form and return it to the school in an envelope marked “PTA Nominating Committee” no later than Wednesday, March 31. General Responsibilities: All board members are expected to attend Executive Board meetings, Membership meetings, assist with PTA events, and keep in contact via email in between meetings to address any issues that arise. All positions should keep their records/notes/documents and make them available for new officers. They should also attend training/conferences provided by the NYS PTA when able. The main responsibilities of each position are listed below:


President - The president presides over all meetings of the association and executive board, signs contracts, and coordinates the work of the officers.


Vice President - The vice president acts as an aide to the president and steps in to preside meetings if the president is unable.


Secretary - The secretary takes, distributes, and maintains minutes from each meeting and conducts correspondence.
