The Menands School PTA would like to update our membership community on upcoming and past events. We are happy to announce that the school year has been a successful and productive one. PTA membership continues to grow stronger each day.

 

Our Mum Sale in September jump started the year with a bang by selling out our beautiful local grown mum. Thank you to our chairperson Christy Johnston and Joe and Christina Pustay for continuing to put together this successful event.

 

It was amazing to see all our families who were able to make it out to the Menands School PTA Family Fun Night. We had a total of 189 people come out for a fun night of bingo, snacks and prizes. A special thank you goes out to Kathleen Boulet and her event committee for all their hard work. Our next Family Fun Night will be held on February 9th. Please be sure not to miss this event which truly brings our families and community together.

 

The Menands School PTA was happy to support the Menands School community in their relief efforts caused by hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Irma in Florida and the Caribbean and the earthquake in Mexico.Boxes of supply items and containers for a Penny Drive were collected during the month of October and November. We would like to thank all who participated in this generous fundraiser and hope it reaches so many who are still in need. Thank you for your support.

 

We would like to thank the Menands community for attend our Public Forum held on Wednesday,

November 9th. We discussed the changes to the school's new schedule as well as the impact on recess. The community, parents, teachers and administration were able to come together and have a productive conversation to begin a discussion on resolving current concerns. Superintendent Dr. Maureen Long provided additional background information regarding the changes and answered questions. The Colonie Police Department facilitated a discussion on Internet and Social Media Safety on Monday, November 20th.  The discussion focused on provided parents with the knowledge and tools necessary to keep their children safe online.

 

The Menands School PTA would like to invite all of our Middle School students (grades 6-8) out for a night filled with fun games, music, food and some much needed hang time with their peers. It will be held this Friday, December 1th from 6-7 pm in the Menands School gymnasium. If you have a middle schooler please be sure to send in a signed permission slip for them to attend this exciting event by Thursday. Students can be dropped off but must be picked up by an adult at the end of the evening.
